Montana Democrats plan a two day session Friday and Saturday to draft the party platform for the November 5 election. About 330 eligible voters are expected to participate through 12 committees with 110 members under State Democratic Chairman Chet Blaylock. Butte YMCA Receives Major Gift from Davis Family

Robert A. Poore announces a $50,000 gift to the Butte YMCA in negotiable securities from Mrs. Ruth Kroger and Mrs. Harriet Schmolle of Los Angeles. The benefactors are daughters of Andrew J. Davis Sr., founder and longtime contributor to the YMCA. The gift will be designated as the A. J. Davis Sr. Memorial.

Bank to raze Beaver Block for drive in bank

The First National Bank has acquired and will demolish the Beaver Block at Granite and Main to build a full service drive in facility. President E Lowry Kunkel said the bank, with divisions in Butte and Anaconda, purchased the property for 11000 from Richard E Marble of Great Falls, who had acquired it for 5400 in a 1967 tax sale at 90 percent of appraised value.

Dirksen reports three life assassination plots

Senator Everett Dirksen disclosed that official sources notified him of three life assassination plots in recent months. He received FBI protection on each occasion and declined to identify those involved. He recalled an alleged plan to kill him in his office during late last month amid Chicago Convention turmoil.

Butte native J. T. Kiely dies at 68 in local hospital

Butte resident Joseph T. Kiely 68 retired Montana State Highway Dept. official died Thursday in a local hospital. Rosary is tonight at 7 in St. Ann Church with services to follow including a Saturday Requiem Mass at St. Ann and burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. Kiely born June 2 1900 on the East Side, played for Cole-Pitts and Montana Power Co. in the old Mines League and was a member of the early Bobcat baseball team.
