Montana Man Completes 55 Mile Yellowstone Swim
Clarence Giles of Glendive, a 44 year old stock buyer, finished a 55 mile marathon swim in the Yellowstone River arriving at the Glendive bridge at 4 15 p m. He weighed 230 pounds at start and shed 22 pounds during the attempt. About 1 500 spectators greeted him as he crawled from the water and he reported feeling fine though exhausted after the feat.

The Centralite, daily school paper of Girls' Central High, earned the all-Catholic rank the highest rating from the Catholic Press Association. It is believed to be the first time a school paper of this size at Butte has received the award. A 31-student staff led by editor Margaret Mary Tutty and assistant editor Roberta Flynn produced the work during 1937-38. Dean O'Sullivan, CPA president, lauded the paper in a letter to faculty adviser Phyllis Haag.

Processing taxes eyed to boost farm income
Agriculture department officials said the administration may place processing taxes near the top of its legislative program at the next Congress session to raise revenue for higher farm benefit payments. The move depends on farmer and Congressional support for price fixing proposals ahead of January adjournment. The drop in farm prices to four year lows and an estimated billion dollar decline in farm income from 1937 spur interest in the idea, especially in cotton and wheat regions.
