Police say arson caused a downtown Montreal blaze at the Blue Bird Club killing 36 people and injuring 54. Four men are being held for questioning as investigators note panicked crowding and failed exits during the rapid two to three minute fire.

Butte 17 year old Larry W. Jones was killed in a one car wreck on Interstate 90 near Harrison Avenue. Teammates Robert Lash and Dave Burn, both 16 and 17, were injured and hospitalized in fair condition. Witnesses described the car veering, leaving the highway and entering a ditch near Little Blacktail Creek. Authorities continue the investigation as the county reports its 10th fatality of the year.
