Woman shoots up soft drink parlor turns deadly intent

Fire destroys Winnett business block in noon blaze
An afternoon fire in Winnett Montana destroyed an entire business block including a hotel two cafes a mercantile store a butcher shop two garages a clothing shop and homes. Origin believed to be papers burned behind a cafe blown under by wind. Loss estimated at 70000 with 24000 insured. Eager Mercantile store suffered the heaviest loss.

Black bear carries off Canadian girl and kills she
A black bear, driven from the woods by forest fires, seized a 3-year-old girl in Lowlands near Winnipeg and killed her after battering the door. Two other children escaped to neighbors as the parents were in the fields. The body lay partly devoured by the bear near the Gorricuk home.

Two Die as Rail Car Crash and Auto Collision Shake Butte
A series of crashes in or near Butte left two men dead and several injured. William Bray age 38, a switchman, died after being crushed between an electric locomotive and a car on South Montana Street near the Montana Power substation. Nick Velaca, 18, also died. Injured include Thomas Gleason, 721 West Granite, and Mrs Snend Carlson. Carlson and three others escaped with minor injuries. Witnesses described Bray flagging traffic as the car crossed the tracks while Carlson insisted on passage.

A fire at Midway Court in Winnipeg Manitoba left nine people dead and ten injured as a three story apartment building burned before firefighters reached the scene. Among the victims were Alfred Applebee his daughter Irene Elizabeth Gaunt and several Edwards family members.
