Butte Girl Struck By Car Injured In Holiday Traffic
A nine year old girl, Cherise Lint of 2121 Fir, was struck by an eastbound car after darting into Fir Street Saturday afternoon. She was taken to Silver Bow General Hospital with injuries not detailed. The driver was identified as Robert Nagy.

Five killed in Montana highway crashes during Labor Day weekend
Five people died in Montana highway crashes over the start of Labor Day weekend. A northbound collision near Ronan on U.S. 93 killed Raymond Clairmont and his young children Tina and Kevin, and Eleanor Fricke. Anaconda flier rescues downed pilot in Vietnam
An Anaconda aviator Lt. Jeffrie E. Wiant Jr. earned combat credit for helicopter rescue of Lt. Cmdr. Harvey Ickle after Wiant’s helicopter was hit in fuel tank and rotor. Wiant reported minor injuries from shrapnel and flak, and said he and the crew were okay aside from nerves. He is an Anaconda High School graduate and former Montana Tech student, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrie Wiant of Ogden, Anaconda.
