Anaconda Man Killed In Highway Crash
An older man Enoch K. Okken 82 was struck by a car on U S 10A eleven miles west of Anaconda and died soon after at St. Ann Hospital. A nearby Anaconda boy 342 injured with a fractured skull in a separate Locust Street crash. Driver William Rogan 24 said to have slowed after tire marks show a skid of 26 feet. Okken and his 13 year old grandson Monty Okken were crossing from Table Meadows Road to Old Forsman Ranch when struck. Okken’s relatives include five sons and several daughters in law across North Dakota and Montana. The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. on a Wednesday.

A dark haired young gunman shot and critically wounded Missoula motel manager Claude M. Harland during an attempted holdup around 3 20 a m. He was treated for stomach wounds and given a 50 50 chance to live. A western Montana dragnet followed with no arrests by afternoon.

Charlo Man Killed in Auto Mishap
Phillip McLeod of Charlo died when his car failed to turn near here and rolled over several times. His body was found Wednesday by railway patrolman C. E. Decker along the Northern Pacific tracks near the east switch of the Flathead branch. The accident left McLeod crushed in the badly wrecked auto. Lake County officers investigated as Montana highway deaths reached 136 for the year.
