Montana Resources monitors unstable Continental Pit highwall near I 15
In late August Montana Resources detected instability in the east highwall of the Continental Pit near Interstate 15 in Butte. Officials say movement is accelerating with daily creep about half an inch and emphasize no threat to the highway while using radar and slide monitoring with a 500 foot berm and a planned 300 foot runout zone to keep workers safe.
