A burglary at the Metlen Hotel in Dillon netted $6500 including $5332 in cash plus a $1200 watch. Entry was through an apartment window. the desk contained the money. FBI agents joined the Beaverhead County investigation to assess interstate theft jurisdiction.

Jinx Haunts Flying Wallendas Six Hurt In Wire Accident
Six members of the Flying Wallendas circus aerial team were injured while attempting a human pyramid on a wire about 12 feet high at their Sarasota winter practice site. Karl Wallenda said a pole gave way amid a television filming, with no net used. Gunther Wallenda and others were hurt, continuing a string of recent Wallenda accidents.

A rifle wielding masked robber entered the Harrington Ice Cream Store at 437 E. Park and forced owner Mrs. Dorothy Harrington’s wife to surrender about $100. He backed the pair into the back room before fleeing. The bandit was about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a ruddy complexion under a eye-hole paper sack. Police confirm the cash taken was at least $100. The incident occurred around 10 15 p m.

Man Given Five Year Suspended Term In Barroom Assault
Eddie Lee Neasman 39 pleaded guilty to second degree assault after saying he defended himself with a knife in a barroom fight at Club Inn 132 S Main. Judge McClernan leniently suspended a five year term, noting Neasman did not start the fight and tried to avoid it. Julius Remarck, Burns Detective Agency employee, was wounded in the altercation. Police identified Remarck as the victim.
