British and American tanks clash with German armor near Acroma, 15 miles southwest of Tobruk, as Rommel seeks to break British lines. A decision is expected in two to three days amid air bombardment and sustained desert fighting.

London dispatch reports Nazi radio in Prague claimed 45 hostages were executed in Prague and Brno in reprisal for the Heydrich attack. W H Cockayne announces the first Children’s Day of the season at Columbia Gardens set for June 4. Children aged 14 and under will ride free to and from the resort and participate in supervised play with daily events planned on Thursdays during school vacations.
