In fog bound seas the Lassco liner ran aground near a point while the U S cruiser Louisville and other ships aided. Passengers were transferred safely with no casualties. Louisville headed to San Pedro expect to arrive tonight.
News reaches Montana of L. O. Evans death in Los Angeles. Funeral arrangements set for burial in Thilo City. Chief Counsel of the Anaconda Company will be mourned across divisions of society.
A Santa Fe train from the west derailed three miles west of Pueblo as loosened rails toppled the engine and six cars. The incident halted service and prompted authorities to continue the report on page 2.
Capt. Thomas Ash, American aviator, expected to take off from Sabishiro Beach, Japan, about 4 a.m. Sunday local time for a non stop flight to Seattle. William Hill, a veteran riverman, was pulled alive from a barrel after being caught in the Niagara whirlpool during a rapids run. The barrel reached the Canadian shore and was opened three hours after setting afloat.
In Baltimore on May 30 a fire destroyed 12 Atlantic Refining distribution tanks and more than 20 firefighters were burned. Most injuries were described as slight by physicians.

At Lake Park Minnesota two masked robbers shot and killed Helmer Anderson and wounded constable Levert Ebeltoft during a poker game raid. The bandits fled with more than 150 dollars as authorities battled the crisis. Ebeltoft’s fate remained uncertain.

Havre France May 30 Texas Guinan and her gang of girls and musicians face expulsion by order of the French government. Lacking a working permit or contract they will be sent back to America aboard the steamer Paris next Wednesday. The immigration bureau says it won't permit Miss Guinan to enter France while others slipped in without contracts.
Bloodhounds and a posse hunted William Hunsucker after he allegedly killed Charles Richardson and his son during a gate dispute. Farm hand Marvin Mallory reported the killings and fled to raise the alarm as authorities organized a search near Winchester, Kansas.
Five members of the Miller family were killed when their car was struck by a Pennsylvania train at Berne Indiana’s Main Street crossing. Victims include Charles Miller 40 Mrs Charles Miller 41 Wilbur Miller 12 Dorothy Miller 10 and Elsie Miller 2. The family was en route to Cleveland Ohio to visit a sister. six other Miller children were not present.
Miners and families in Butte will gather for the fourteenth annual Miners Field Day on July 27 at Columbia Gardens. John L. Boardman of Anaconda Copper Mining Co. announces a 10 AM program with sport events and the mucking race to crown Butte’s mucking champion. Free lemonade and a lunch-basket check stand will be available.
University of Washington captured the Northern division title of the Pacific Coast conference track and field meet at University Stadium in Seattle on May 30, scoring 60 points. Oregon placed second with 39, Washington State 30, Oregon State 22, Montana 9 and Idaho 4.
In Pittsburgh on May 30 three robbers lined up twenty five men in a Renton pool room and opened fire after selecting George Pokuski 23. Pokuski was shot in the throat as the robbers claimed they meant business. They fled after taking money jewelry and items. John Ronaco 22 tried to intervene and was also shot. Pokuski Ronaco remain in serious condition in hospital.
Baseball standings show Philadelphia 10 12 and Boston 0 2 with Brooklyn 5 18 and New York 2 8 in a 10 inning first game. Chicago 9 6 and Pittsburgh 2 5. St Louis 12 5 and Cincinnati 4 4. Sunday's games matchups Boston at Brooklyn Philadelphia at New York Cincinnati at St Louis Pittsburgh at Chicago.
