Americans observe Memorial Day with prayers, parades, and vigils for Vietnam and all wars. Gov Anderson asks motorists to switch on lights. Montanans recall 180 dead from Vietnam, amid highway safety warnings and local ceremonies at Hamilton and Scottsbluff.
A Butte man and two Anaconda residents will be ordained to the priesthood at 10 Saturday in St. Ann Church. The candidates are Father Thomas P. Haffey, son of Mr and Mrs Patrick F Haffey of Anaconda, Father Daniel P. Hillen, son of Mr and Mrs Daniel J Hillen of Butte, and Father Daniel B Shea, son of Mrs Mary Shea of Anaconda. Helena Bishop will perform the ordination rites.
Silver Bow County received a 40000 grant to operate its poor fund through June, bringing total state aid for fiscal 1968 69 to 205000. The two grants this year exceed the 200000 appropriation, with the biennium ending June 30 and a projected end-of-year balance in the black according to State Welfare Administrator Ted Carkulis.
Raymond G Hunthausen reports on ordinations to be held the following day at St Anthony Church Missoula. Fathers James L Hamilton and Charles Peterson will be ordained. Mass and receptions planned in Anaconda and St Peter Church.

204 Central students from Boys and Girls Central High Schools will attend separate Baccalaureate Masses this morning before a joint commencement at the Civic Center at 8 p.m. Dom in ic Seoneh Reed of Choteau, WWII combat interpreter now teaching languages at Choteau High, will be profiled. The Rev R J Beaulieu and Brother L J Mooney will present diplomas, with Most Rev R G Hunthausen officiating.
Crest Nursing Home at 3131 Amherst will expand from 60 to 100 beds with a 10 700 square foot addition. Construction budget is 230 000, starting June 20 and expected to finish within five months. architect Harold P Godtland says the masonry addition will extend northward from the current building and include landscaping. Bentley Construction Co. of Butte is the prime contractor.
Memorial Day activities in Butte include services at Veterans Monument and Memorial Park at 10 A M and 9 A M in the county courthouse lobby, with parades, drum corps, and the USS Maine capstan. Cemetery programs run from 11 A M to early afternoon at Mount Moriah and nearby plots, featuring veterans groups, wreaths, taps, and speakers.
The eve of the spring holiday drew thousands to the roads as dry warm weather prevailed in much of the country. The National Safety Council projected 550 to 650 traffic deaths over the 7 hour period from 6 p.m. Thursday to midnight Sunday, comparing with 481 deaths during a nonholiday period May 15 to May 18.
The holiday timetable for Butte includes a morning parade and morning to early afternoon services. Columbia Gardens opens with full recreational schedule through Labor Day. Butana Speedway starts today offering stock car and modified racing Saturdays and holidays through fall. Montana Tech Mineral Museum and World Museum of Mining announce summer hours with free entry. Sidney Memorial Day parade, Browning All Indian Rodeo, Northern Cheyenne Pow Wow in Lame Deer also today. Montana Institute of the Arts Festival in Bozeman and Yellowstone Park Days in Red Lodge run through Sunday. Lambert hosts a two day amateur rodeo starting Saturday.
