Tourist Resort in Fire's Path Near Raids New Mexico
The Lincoln National Forest supervisor said the fire threatening the resort community near Raidoso, New Mexico, has little chance to spread though a 200 yard gap remained to be closed. About 350 acres burned as 60 local volunteers and 40 Mescalero firefighters fought the blaze, with up to 100 airbase personnel expected to join. The fire risked the heart of town and drew crowds from Ruidoso Downs Race Track and nearby towns as wind fanned the flames.

Boy’s Body Searched For In Tobacco River
In Eureka Idaho a 9 year old boy, David Van Dimmel, is believed drowned after falling from a log into the Tobacco River. Crews suspended a 24 hour search due to high water and strong current.
