Delegates from ten Asian nations met in Baguio to blueprint a cooperative economic plan for their 600 million people. Burglars Loot Peter Brinig Shoe Store Near Police Station

A highly planned burglary occurred at the Peter Brinig Shoe Store at 39 East Park late Sunday night. Officers recovered evidence from the scene and reported $150 in cash stolen from a cash register. entry was gained by removing iron bars and smashing a rear window near the police station. The crime was detected during a routine check by Jerry Holm, the merchant police chief, who noted the rear of the store faces the station and suspects the burglar mapped the premises carefully.

Five Marines Drown in Peruvian River Boat Accident

In Loreto region near Tambo river in northeastern Peru, a large motor boat overturned on Sunday, drowning four soldiers and leaving others injured. Local authorities reported the disaster as an accident during a transport voyage.

In Dillon on May 28 three youngsters James Nettick 11 Gary Wilson 10 and Don Wilson 14 pulled a 14 pound 11 1/2 ounce rainbow trout from Blacktail creek within city bounds. Don hooked the fish on a spinner with bullhead bait and after a dramatic lunge dragged it to shore where the trio carried it home to display at Sport Shop.

Man Pulls Gun on Plane Holds 26 Passengers at Bay

Fresno dispatch reports 26 year old Air Force veteran John O'Reilly seized a California Central Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Oakland and threatened passengers for nearly 30 minutes. He claimed a gang of killers pursued him and threatened to kill all aboard before leaping out and being arrested by Deputy Sheriff Lewis Ronne. The plane landed safely and O'Reilly was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Megdaline, his German war bride, and their eight month old son were aboard. He sought psychiatric evaluation unless his wife or brother opts for examination.

A 1949 Chevrolet rear seat upholstery fire started by a cigarette was quickly extinguished by Butte firemen at 5 25 Sunday morning after a motorist named J W Butcher, possibly a Washington salesman, drove the blaze to the Quartz street station.

Burglars Target Local Stores in St. Louis Lootings

In St. Louis on May 28 two burglaries show a pattern like novice bettors choosing spots by appeal. The Prosperity shop was robbed of 584 dollars last weekend followed by a 38 dollar hit on the Good Luck market. The owner had some luck too as another 16 dollars were left behind.

New York report says Anna Bornholdt 58 arraigned on homicide for dropping her paralyzed husband Fred 64 from a fifth floor kitchen window after he pleaded not to be thrown out. Police quote her saying I have to do it and I’m a bad girl. The couple had been married 20 years. he suffered a stroke last November leaving his left side paralyzed.

Four Cars Damaged as Woman Driver Prepares for Test

Mrs. M. Neishi a Dillon cafe dishwasher who recently bought a Plymouth sedan crashed into a parked truck on Bannack and Montana injuring three cars including two others owned by Mrs. G. L. Routledge and Claude Dodgson. The Plymouth front end was crushed and headlights broken. Neishi will cover repairs and plans to take her driving test Monday.

Hit and Run Auto Snatches Butte Man's Shoe

Butte police seek a hit and run vehicle after a car tore off Noel Thompson's shoe and bruised his toes on East Park Street shortly before midnight. Fort Bragg paratrooper Pfc. Neal Stewart 22 of Birmingham Alabama made 54 free fall jumps on Sunday failing to reach 76 needed to set a new world mark. Berlin May 28. A half million disciplined East German youths in blue uniforms marched in Berlin amid rains for the city Museum show. The peaceful rally mocked the West and lauded Stalin. Memorial Day Toll Reaches At Least 222 Deaths

The four day Memorial Day weekend saw at least 222 American fatalities from accidents. By Sunday night 152 were traffic deaths, 41 drownings, and 29 from miscellaneous mishaps as mild weather boosted travel. The National Safety Council projected 290 traffic deaths and 30 million cars on the roads, with no deaths reported in Montana.

Eager Beaver Rescued From Dogs Near Columbia Gardens

Deputies helped a beaver nicknamed Danny after residents alerted them to a yelping pack trapping the animal in a stream by Columbia Gardens.
