Counterfeiting Plant Busted in Brooklyn Raid

Seven federal secret service agents raided a top floor Brooklyn room and seized a large counterfeit operation printing $1,000,000 in fake bills. They arrested Pericle Mannerini and Joseph De Ne among three men found working the lithography setup as police held $1,300,000 in jewels.

Road Contracts Pass Million Dollar Mark During Year 1930

Montana highway contracts push 1930 total past million

Helena May 28 Montana highway commission passes the million dollar mark in 1930 contracted work by taking bids totaling 402283 on six contracts. Across three settings this year the commission has pledged 1160511 for construction costs and engineering supervision. The program lists 69.49 miles grading 51.368 graveling 116.125 oiling 18 regrading and 28 bridges. No lettings next month. meeting set for June 18 as funds lag and refunds drain.

Reservoir Road To Be Improved By State Engineers

R. L Zahniser chief locating engineer for the state highway commission with 12 men arrived in the city for a 75 mile survey of Basin Creek road from Five Mile to the reservoirs. The project aims to sharp curves, better alignment and wider roadway to meet state standards. Plans will be prepared in Butte. survey to take about 10 days with bids expected shortly after July 1.

Prohibition Violations Hit 350 in Chicago Indictments

A federal grand jury indicted 350 people in Chicago on conspiracy to violate the prohibition law. Among those named were two physicians and Ralph Capone, brother of Al Capone, charged in two true bills for liquor sales at Cicero venues and night clubs including the Tron Club and Montmarte. Butte High School Grants Record Graduation Fourth Year Class

The largest class in Butte high school and the state history, 244 seniors, were graduated in a Fox theater ceremony led by Montana State College president Dr Alfred Atkinson as speaker. J L Dorsh, school board chair, awarded diplomas to each student before about 2000 spectators.

Mrs James W Murphy Dies in Santa Monica Hospital

Mrs James Wallace Murphy a former Butte woman known in Butte and Anaconda died yesterday morning at Santa Monica California. She had been an invalid for eight years and suffered a paralytic stroke in 1922 from which she never recovered. She was married to James Murphy about 25 years ago and resided on the west side for 15 years following.
