Walkerville Youth Reported Missing in Action on Corregidor
Mrs. Nina Wertz of Walkerville received word from the War department that her son Private First Class Robert C. Larsen was reported missing in action from the surrender of Corregidor in the Philippines. Larsen served in the U S Army coast artillery and was stationed on Corregidor after moving from Philipsburg to Butte as a child. He was born June 16 1920 in Philipsburg and earlier lived in Butte, attending local schools and later working as a forest service truck driver before his February 14 1941 enlistment. He went to the Philippines in April 1941.

Body of Budd Greenwell Recovered After Willow Creek Lake Accident
The body of Budd S. Greenwell, 24, a Butte miner, was recovered Monday at Willow Creek lake after a boating accident that also claimed Lea Fanyak, 22, of Roundup. Tex Guinan, a Montana Power employee, dived to the lake bottom to locate Greenwell. The search was led by Greenwell’s brother, A L Gregnwell, a Northern Pacific switchman, with a party of eight staying on a raft while Guinan worked. The diver reported five feet of mud and boulders hindering the search. Greenwell swam an estimated 225 yards toward the wreck to aid Fanyak.
