Scouts and fathers set for Big Hole river canoe trip
Father and son teams of the Vigilante Council Boy Scouts of America will start Friday from Maiden Rock on the Big Hole River for a three day voyage to Silver Star or Waterloo on the Jefferson River. Bob Oakes leads the expedition with his son Dave and other Scouts and dads joining along the route.

Ditch worker killed in Helena on damaged road
A 34 year old ditch digger, Harry Leroy Durstin, died after asphalt collapsed from a 52 foot ditch on Butte Avenue. He was struck on the head and chest while inspecting a leak from a water line caused by his tractor mounted digger. He worked alone and is survived by a sister in Helena and parents in Washington State.
