Montana farmers have most of their spring planting done and await rain and warmer temperatures to speed grain growth. A federal weather crop report predicts above normal temperatures with light rainfall, notes rapid seeding in the northeast and full completion on dry land elsewhere, with irrigation continuing. It highlights beets, flax, wheat, oats, barley, beans and corn progress, weed and pest challenges, and minor flood and reseeding concerns along with growing range feeds and forthcoming grasshopper activity.

Rehearings Denied by Montana Supreme Court
The Montana Supreme Court denied rehearings in two cases and heard arguments on two others from district courts. It upheld disqualification of Diatrick Besancon and sent the case back for trial. It denied rehearing in a suit by Victoria and George Hetar against Philip Chevalier for $3,760. Mrs. Veach sought custody of her seven year old grandson in a Great Falls matter, arguing remarrying would be in the child’s best interests. Montana health officials reported 175 communicable-disease cases last week, bringing the annual total to 6,466 with measles, mumps, chickenpox, tuberculosis, syphilis and scarlet fever among the breakdown.

Billings Woman Dies of Accident Injuries
A Billings woman, Anna Lenhardt, 41, died Tuesday from injuries suffered May 19 in a two car collision west of Billings. Her husband survived. another driver unhurt. She moved to Montana in 1900, lived near Hesper before 1927, leaving two sons, one daughter, and two sisters as survivors.

Variety Program Draws Crowd in Crystal Room Show
A capacity audience attended Jimmy Chatham’s variety show in the Crystal room of the A. M. club Tuesday night. Butte high students from the school band, led by Art J. Pascoe, showcased the Swingsters 12 piece dance band with swinging tunes. The De Molay clown band provided oldtime German styled comedy, called back for encores. Mosby opened the program with choral numbers, Mrs. Harry Williams accompanist. The Dahl sisters performed intricate tap routines, Harold Frye played boogie woogie piano, Lenore Cislo played xylophone solos, Cayal Reap sang, and Mrs. W. H. Barker closed with two contralto solos accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Littlejohn.
