Liberated Soldier Arrives Here on 60 Day Furlough
Corp. Paul W. Hershberger 27, a prisoner of the Germans for 19 days until liberation on April 12, arrives in Butte on a 60 day furlough to visit wife Barbara Hershberger and their two year old. He served with a Ninth Army tank corps, was captured March 25 in the Ruhr valley, and had been overseas since last December. A Plains native, he lived in Butte and worked at the N P roundhouse before enlistment. his mother Mrs. Anna Hershberger resides in Plains.

Pvt. Albert Otto, 22, was killed in action recently in the Philippines, the War department informed his wife Emma Otto, an employee of the Rocky Mountain Laboratory here. Otto had received the Purple Heart for an earlier wound from Bouganville. Survivors include his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Otto, who came from North Dakota in 1940.
