Anaconda to get a third Catholic parish St Joseph
Bishop Gilmore announced Anaconda will establish St Joseph Parish to ease Crowded St Paul School. A church, school, convent, and rectory will rise on West Park Avenue with grades one through eight. Start in September with a fundraising drive and voluntary labor.

Engineer Drowns In Clark Fork Near Noxon
Roger Kaiser an engineer for Peter Kiewit Sons Co drowned Thursday in the Clark Fork River about four miles west of Noxon while marking a new channel for the Noxon Rapids Dam project. He lived at Sand Point and leaves a widow and three children. Sheriff Britton directed the search with nine boats in use.

A Walt Conners of Trout Creek Montana, about 28, was critically injured when his light plane struck a power line and crashed four miles west of Noxon Thursday night. Deputy Barney Mendenhall said the plane crossed the Clark River and fell near Highway 10A. A passing motorist alerted the sheriff. Conners was taken to a Sand Point Idaho hospital by ambulance. He worked as an oiler for Peter Kiewit Sons Construction Co and is not married.
