Judge scolds PTO leader over embezzlement in Butte case
District Judge Frank Joseph gave Amber Moore a six year deferred sentence for embezzling more than $16,000 from Whittier Elementary PTO. She must repay $16,555 at least $200 monthly. Prosecutor sought a five year suspended sentence, but judge offered a chance to erase the felony with restitution and good behavior. Moore said hard times led to the crime, while prosecutors noted remaining personal purchases during the period.
