Coroner Rules Boy’s Death An Unavoidable Accident
An eight year old boy Arthur Triniman died Thursday after a car driven by Karen Hockaday 19 struck him at Thornton and Granite. A coroner’s jury concluded the death was an unavoidable accident and exonerated the driver after a brief deliberation. Witnesses supported Hockaday’s account that she did not see the boy until after the impact and stopped about 60 feet away. Autopsy showed instant death from a crushed skull and brain lacerations.

Five Men Die as Tank Plunges from Cliff in Texas
An M48 Army tank on maneuvers at Fort Hood plunged off a 30 foot cliff and burned for over an hour, killing five crew inside. The lieutenant and four enlisted men were recovered about four hours after the crash. Names withheld pending notification. Nearby, a 36 passenger bus overturned after a broken spring, injuring 30 including a 4th grader who died at the scene. Injured were transported to Albuquerque hospitals. none in critical condition.
