Born December 24, 1879 in Gladbrook Iowa she taught in Iowa Nebraska before moving to Montana in 1905 and Butte in 1907. She resided at 2400 Yale and was active in various clubs and DAR chapters.

Judge voids Butte annexation and blasts council in ruling
Dillon judge Judge Philip C. Duncan nullified the Smith and Shewe Addition annexation south of Butte and criticized city procedures. He found 431 of 514 freeholders were residents and 249 protests valid, with 11 spouse signatures counted separately.
