Wyoming Boy Buried Alive
A two year old boy named Richard Thun was buried alive in a five foot trench beside his Cody, Wyoming home after his foot wedged between a clay ditch wall and a sewer pipe. Sheriff Frank Blackburn said the trench was filled in with earth by a power shovel at 11 a.m. about 30 minutes after the boy’s mother last saw him. Over 100 volunteers searched fields and the Sulphur Creek area before the body was found at 5:30 p.m. The boy, son of Mr and Mrs David Thun, apparently suffocated with his foot trapped. Authorities initially suspected he fell from a cliff nearby but the sewer line search yielded the fatal discovery.
