War Bond Drive Reaches $94 549 in One Day
Silver Bow county residents pledged 094549.75 in E F G and other securities to the Seventh War Loan drive on Thursday. Officials cheered the day as among the largest since the campaign began andaimed to top the county quota of 976700. Local leaders praised Max Dean and the women workers led by Mrs E P Shea plus merchant clerks led by George B Schotte. Mrs Shea said three days total reached 21100 with 4900 in one day from city booths.

William D. O'Brien Reported Wounded in Luzon Action
Mrs. Lillian G. O'Brien of 317 South Dakota received word from the War Department that her husband Private William D. O'Brien 23 was slightly wounded in action on Luzon on April 24. He serves with the 32nd Infantry division and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. O'Brien of 517 South Wyoming. He was born in Butte and attended Webster and Washington Junior high schools. A miner before enlisting in August 1944, he trained at Camp Wolters Texas and left Fort Ord California for overseas in January. He fought first on Leyte and then through Manila to northern Luzon.
