300 Shriners Attend Spring Ceremonial in City

Bagdad temple of the Mystic Shrine held a large spring ceremonial with about 300 red fez wearers in Butte. Novices from across the country joined the three ceremonial sections after a 4 30 pm banquet. Notables traveled from Philadelphia New Orleans Los Angeles Chicago St Louis Seattle Portland Spokane Boise Salt Lake and many Wyoming towns. Merle Davis directed the closing show as the executive committee led by Malcolm Gillis and others organized the event. Tirzah temple Daughters of the Nile plans a final reunion with an exemplification by Marianna H Rickey and staff.

Graf Zeppelin Lands Safely At Toulon After Day of Turbulent Flight

Dr Eckener and crew survived a dramatic day as the Graf Zeppelin was guided to land at Toulon after nearly 40 hours aloft. Winds thwarted landings at Istres and Sete as five replacement motors were rushed from Friedrichshafen to aid the battered airship. All aboard remained unharmed, and the ship was hailed a victory over the dangerous Mediterranean crossing.

Attorney Toole Remitted Fined Contempt in Court

George D. Toole’s explanations and apologies for contempt in United States district court led Judge George M. Bourquin to remit a $25 fine. The judge praised Toole as ethical and deferential, accepting his intent to show the client would avoid future violations of the prohibition law.

Over 200 delegates at the Montana Parent-Teacher convention heard speeches praising the group’s work and noting the U.S. spends more on education than all activities except the war debt. Butte Girl Scout Summer Camp Opens July 6

The Girl Scout summer home at Camp Castle Rock south of Butte will open July 6 for four weeks. A leaders' training course follows August 2 to 4. A Girl Scout troop was formed at Sacred Heart school with 28 girls enrolled. Mary Kane and Miss Doherty head the troop meeting Fridays. Federal Reserve Board Faces Rate Hikes Across Banks

The New York Boston and Philadelphia reserve banks urged the Fed to change rates but gained no approval. Meanwhile San Francisco secured authority to raise its rate from 4 percent to 5 percent, aligning with the eleven other institutions. The requests were presented at the Washington meeting today without sanction.

Two Men Held On Robbery Charge At Bank Hotel

Five minutes after a man was assaulted by Willie Heinonen at the Bank hotel, officers Roe and Lyden arrested him for robbery. Veniyo said Heinonen knocked him down, took $4.75 and papers, and fled as residents called police. A second suspect, J L Schumaker, was arrested after allegedly striking L Dempsey on East Platinum Street, with Dempsey reporting $3.50, keys, and a swollen head.

A federal department stand was not taken while resolutions urged that high school education be the minimum standard for all children. Luncheon talks featured Mrs. Hugh Bradford Dr. Richard A Bolt and Dr. J X Newman with Mrs Uhland Boyer presiding as the convention nears its 2 pm close and tours of mining city sites begin.

Medical Clinic Planned by Silver Bow Medical Society

Final plans for a surgical and medical clinic at Murray's and St James hospital will be conducted under the Silver Bow Medical society. Dr. Donald K Worden announced that more than 20 prominent doctors from Butte and southeastern Montana are expected. Readings will be by Dr Richard Bolt and Dr Powell among others. A noon luncheon at the Silver Bow club precedes golf at the Country club before the afternoon session.
