Wreckage of plane sighted in Bridger Mountains

Butte Cleanup Set For Week After Weather Delays
Balmy weather in Butte and Silver Bow County boosts support for operation cleanup planned Thursday through Sunday with debris pickups booked Monday and Tuesday. The effort to sweep streets sidewalks yards and vacant lots was delayed twice by weather. Bill Pesanti of the Butte Chamber of Commerce said the plan looks like the week of accomplishment.

Two Butte men believed killed in Mountain Con blast
Two Butte miners Norman Enberg and Glen Hendricks were missing and presumed dead after an accidental blast at the Mountain Con Mine at 11:20 am. Coroner Leo B. Jacobsen identified Enberg 51 of 2729 Aberdeen and Hendricks 23 of 1818 Reynolds. Injured was neighbor Al Hofbauer 3201 Sanders with neck bruises. Nine drill holes loaded. two holes exploded prematurely. Miner William Dieringer was nearby but escaped. Investigators will continue today. Enberg was a carpenter and veteran, survived by wife Amelia and children Charles and Elda Marie. He belonged to American Legion, VFW, and Gold Hill Lutheran Church. Born in Chisholm Minnesota.
