Wrecked Plane Seen in Mexico
An American search plane sighted the burned wreckage of a U S Air Force T29 missing with nine aboard in the central Mexican mountains near Florida in Queretaro. The pilot doubted any survivors and reported about 50 persons on the ground near the wreckage as a Mexican Army search party hunted the site.

Police Lieutenant Elmer Powell to Retire June 14

Clyde E. Weed, chairman of the Anaconda Co., said a steel mill for Anaconda is nearer reality as Gulf States Land and Industries works on financing. Reports say slag use may be phased in later. Gulf States representatives met mine operators in Butte and Anaconda. The project envisions 100 acres leased for 20 years with $1 annual rent and a feasibility study citing about 41.4 million dollars in capital investment.
