Shelby Pilot Killed When Crop-Duster Crashes by Farm
William Fordham about 30 a Shelby resident died Monday when the crop-dusting plane he flew struck a telephone line and crashed burning near Shelby. The crash occurred at 6 20 a.m. and the wreckage was found about 3 p.m. by a search party on the Dale Heath farm west of town. Fordham had recently returned from the west coast where he studied aircraft mechanics. Survivors include his widow, his mother Mrs S B Fordham, and a brother Robert, all of Shelby. He was well known in Butte and Anaconda where relatives live. The body was burned beyond recognition delaying identification.

Lost Creek Boy Fatally Injured in Accident
Val Galle Jr., 8, of Lost Creek, died in a Missoula hospital after an accident near his home Sunday. Born October 5, 1951 in Anaconda, he was in third grade at Lincoln School and active in Cub Scouts and the Crotaian Brotherhood. The boy and a companion were riding in a pay loader bucket when a bump caused the bucket catch to spill them, and the machine ran over him.

Swiss Plane Crashes in Sudan. 12 Feared Dead
A Balair DC 4 crashed into a mountain side in the Sudan Sunday night. The Swiss airline confirmed 12 people were aboard and there appears to be little hope of any survivors. The flight went from Khartama to Niamey on the Niger River and to Dakar to carry pilgrims to Mecca.

Wind Blows Roof Off Barn South of Butte
A violent gust tore the roof from a 35 by 70 foot barn on the Fred St. Onge ranch eight miles south of Butte along Highway 10. The same wind damaged a stovepipe at George C. Redfern’s ranch. No animals were harmed and hay remained in the mow. The storms occurred around 3 30 in the afternoon. Both sites are in the 9 Mile area.
