Behind the scenes discussions in London explore a Yank financed project to build a new Adriatic port for Yugoslavia. If agreed the plan would let Italy retain Trieste and Zone A while Yugoslavia gains Zone C and a new port in Zone B with US Britain aid. The scheme also envisions Italian entry into a regional military alliance with Turkey and Greece.

In Jackson Tennessee the local post office received a returned envelope with a scrawled note saying Man done dead Won't be back any more. The envelope appeared to contain a bill.
In Moultrie Georgia a 45 year old Black man sought in four killings Friday and Saturday was taken Sunday night and hidden in an undisclosed jail. An armed posse of over 200 searched a swamp area for the knife wielding suspect linked to the Roland murders and two nearby double slayings at a drive in grocery. Victims included W M Roland and his wife Gladys along with E T Norman and J D Croft whose throats were cut. Norman was shot and Croft's neck broken. Investigations focus on robbery as motive in the Friday deaths with about $15 missing.
Reports from Dacca, East Pakistan, say Saturday’sAdamjee jute mills labor riots left 300 dead and 300 injured. Police recovered 206 bodies, with eight dying in hospital. women and children among the dead. Authorities seek more corpses in ponds and river banks as troops patrol. A curfew from dusk to dawn is in effect. The unrest remains confined to the riot area 20 miles south of Dacca.
Weekend thief targeted homes with roof antennas. Hisao Sato, 24, broke into 20 residences and stole 2800 dollars before police caught him.

Five youths from Edwardsville St Jacobs and Highland Illinois died when their car was shredded by a Baltimore and Ohio passenger train traveling from St. Louis to New York near Trenton Clinton County 40 miles east of St. Louis. One occupant Donna Reed 18 survived only slim chances at St. Joseph's Hospital Highland. Witnesses said they stopped for crossing lights and the high speed car swerved into the locomotive.
Six cars were damaged Sunday on U.S. 87 near Hardin with extensive damage totaling about 9000 dollars. Duane Johnson 21 Hardin drove off the road into a parked Porter car, which hit Wildin’s car. Johnson’s car rolled, a doctor and patrolman arrived, a pickup driven by Robert Tally Hardin rammed the patrol car, which then hit the doctor’s car. the patrol car burned and was destroyed. Johnson posted 300 bond for DUI and Tally posted 100 for reckless driving.
Col. Gen. Heinz Guderian, famed for leading Panzer divisions that swept France and Poland, died in Schwangau at 65 after a long liver ailment. He directed campaigns in France and Poland, then the Russian front, facing setbacks before postwar writing on defense and Eastern threats. He was captured by Americans in 1945 and spent his later years in an old people’s home.
The U S Army said it is investigating a report that an American soldier fled to Communist Czechoslovakia and sought political asylum. Radio Prague claimed Cpl James Davies born December 4 1921 in Philadelphia crossed the Czech border May 14. A spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division said Pvt James Davis has been AWOL since May 11 but there is no proof the two men are the same.
Western officials report no meetings Sunday between delegations or aides at Geneva as Indochina talks resume on a restricted basis. The United States Britain and France prepare to oppose Communist demands for political concessions in exchange for a cease fire while pressing for a military halt and safeguarded civilian protection. European and Asian negotiators plan a two part French plan for a rapid armistice with Viet Nam and for Laos and Cambodia withdrawal of Viet Minh troops and disarming guerrillas. U S Information Agency announces a worldwide offensive to expose and counter atheistic and ideological appeals of communism. 217 overseas posts instructed to promote lectures and distribute a list of 54 books as a unit under a prominent communism shelf.
Fire Captain Jim Goggin and a ladder crew answered a call to free the 22 year old son of Mrs. Josephine Richards from a bathroom door jam. The youth forced the lock and required rescue from an upper apartment window.
Weather outlook for Butte and Montana shows fair conditions with a slight warming on Monday and Monday night. Highs around 74 on Monday, 72 on Tuesday, and 69 to 70s elsewhere. Overnight lows near 42 on Monday night and 46 Sunday. West of Divide: fair with 70 to 80 highs. East of Divide: partly cloudy with minimal change. The period table notes 12 hour maximums and 18 hour minimums ending Sunday.
Washington senators Knowland and Mansfield urged a Southeast Asia security pact backed by the United States and allies to stop Communist expansion. They argued the coalition must be Asiatic led, not dominated by Western powers, with Mansfield proposing a Monroe Doctrine style pledge possibly voiced by India’s Nehru.
