The president plans an active push as the judiciary battle unfolds. A bitter debate looms over relief funding while expectations run high for the Tuesday vote and the anticipated defeat in the committee vote is noted.
Administration leaders said they counted on President Roosevelt to aid in pushing the court reorganization bill. They pledged no compromise and expected an aggressive return to the fight as a Senate debate looms after a judiciary committee defeat. Other calendar items included the interior department appropriation and relief bill debates.
Reports from Tirana say a revolutionary movement led by former minister Etentoto seized Argyrokastron killing a loyal officer. The government cut telephone lines to Tepelene Kurvelesh Libohova as Premier Zog’s regime braces for further unrest with possible Italian military aid.
The Butte Clerks union led a mass meeting Sunday to call a strike after employers rejected wage and hour demands. Most textile and grocery stores employing union clerks will close today, about 250 small owner run groceries stay open without clerks, select uptown grocers and drug stores will operate with owner or manager supervision.
New York dispatch reports a caretaker saw a dark complexioned man and two children exit a car near Brookhaven Long Island after a savage attack. Police found Helen 6 with a slashed throat and Jimmy 5 wounded in the throat. the sister is dead, mother missing, investigation intensifies.

Emmett Dalton the wart covered frog from Oklahoma won the annual frog jumping contest at Angels Camp before 25 000 spectators. He set a world record leap of 13 feet 5 inches beating Budweiser's 13 3. Kilowatt placed second with 12 feet 1 inch to keep Frank Hartnett's prize in Angels Camp. George O Connors Combustion from Buffalo NY earned strong Eastern presence.
Butte workers number over 250 and launch the drive with a kick off dinner at the citadel. James W. Uncles leads the volunteer force with Tom J. Davis chairing the advisory board and addressing donors on Salvation Army in Action.

The twenty ninth convention banquet of the St Jean Baptiste society honored Fathers Peter De Smet and Anthony Ravalli for carrying the cross into Western Montana in 1840. Speakers from Butte Anaconda Missoula and Frenchtown praised French pioneers in Montana and noted their hardships in advancing civilization. John A. Cyr of Frenchtown was elected president general, succeeding J. Fred Petit. Continued on Page 2 Col 2.
John Howard 81 drowned when he fell into a well at I Berrey ranch in Madison Valley near Three Forks after fire broke out. Berrey family absent at the barn. body found after a search. Howard had lived with them about a year and was uncle to Mrs Berry. Surviving brother Richard Howard of Three Forks and niece Mrs David Houston of White Sulphur Springs.
Needles, California recorded a high of 109 degrees as a heat wave hit the region today. The scorching temperatures placed Needles among the nation's hottest locations.
Wade Millman an 88-year-old farmer conducted a public funeral sermon at Canaan church three miles northwest of Coatesville Indiana. He delivered a theatrically defiant service with a casket made from a farm tree and paid pallbearers. Millman mocked his sister Tamar Huber 96 who declined to attend saying the event was silly.
In Brookfield Alabama, William Callahan 16 and his brother Thomas 18 were found shot in a second floor bedroom. Police, after initial checks, were investigating murder or death by own action but had no definite conclusion.
Associated Press reports at least 108 persons died in auto accidents over the week end nationwide. Crude crossing crashes claimed 13 lives including five schoolchildren when a school bus was struck by the Vermont express. Railroads show a six percent rise in grade crossing deaths in 1936 vs 1935.
Montana faces unsettled conditions Monday and Tuesday with a warmer spell in the far east Monday and cooler conditions arriving on Tuesday.
Owen F. Cap Brinton, chief engineer of the mining division for the Fort Peck flood control project, will receive the professional degree of engineer of mines from Montana School of Mines at June 4 commencement. Brinton, a 1905 graduate, led a 7,850 foot tunnel project in India, then served in World War I and later supervised 3,500 workers on four giant Fort Peck diversion tunnels.
Dispatches report rebel Gen Emilio Mola’s forces repulsed Basque and Asturian attacks on the Bilbao front and captured six villages south of Mount Biscargi. Premier Largo Caballero says he cannot form a new cabinet, Azana expected to appoint Communist Jose Diaz to head the government.
Federal authorities prepared arraignments for six indicted suspects in three western cities. Bonds exceed $100,000. Four accused are black, one white woman, one white man. They face conspiracy charges to transport a 16 year old white girl to Portland for immoral purposes, with the girl held as a material witness.
Miles City Montana reports a farmer Oscar Johnson from Sonnette Powder River County used 1500 chickens in three battalions of 560 to clear a 40 acre wheat field of grasshoppers. The poultry force reduced the infestation and Johnson claims the pests are defeated.
The board of trustees for school district No. 1 will open bids tonight at 8 for 150000 dollars in bonds authorized at the April 3 election for high school beautification. Bids will determine amortization or serial plan. Upon sale, work on an athletic field and other improvements near the new building begins. Survey crews aim to start by June 15 with construction soon after, to finish before occupancy.
