Denver bootlegger slain as gang warfare flares in Colorado
In Denver, a 41 year old bootlegger Sam Carlino was shot dead at his home amid renewed gang violence over liquor control. A 19 year old Pueblo man Joe Colletti was wounded and Mrs Josephine Carlino named Bruno Mauro a 17 year old Pueblo youth as the killer. Dusty and hungry John Connors a 20 year old Helena youth walked into the police station and confessed to stealing a car in Helena. The vehicle broke down near Boulder and he hiked into Butte. He was booked on vagrancy and investigation and sent to a cell. An officer from Helena was to recover him.
