Seven Montana grizzly shootings ruled self defense in 2023
At least seven grizzly bears died in Montana in 2023 after hunter shootings, with another wounded but not found. Five Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks press releases describe close encounters and self defense as the outcome. A seventh fatal shooting occurred on the Blackfeet Reservation, also ruled self defense after investigation.
