President Ford praised AFL-CIO and the American Jewish Committee for resolutions supporting his Vietnamese refugee resettlement program. The United States agreed to stop removing South Vietnamese aircraft flown to Thailand after a Thai government request. The carrier Midway sailed from Thai waters with at least 25 jets and fighters aboard, amid Saigon claims of ownership announced by a Liberation radio broadcast.

Huntington Beach man Robert Case, 21, led patrol cars on a 9 14 mile chase early Tuesday. He was clothed only in blue boxer shorts and shoes when captured and booked on reckless driving and assault with a deadly weapon. The pursuit began outside a luxury restaurant where he drove at 80 mph tossing clothing from his car.
Helena reports that none of the 123,000 South Vietnamese refugees rescued by the United States are scheduled for resettlement in Montana. Montana Idaho district director John Reddy says he has not received refugee information and only guesses a few might be sponsored there someday. He notes some Vietnamese nationals live in the state but provides no numbers.
