A harp he bought from Staggering Ox at 549 S Main St now hangs inside the restaurant, symbolizing his wish to keep Butte’s Irish connections alive. The Harp’s origins remain uncertain, and the piece was purchased about a year ago.
The Sawley fire 15 miles northeast of Wise River remained at 1,500 acres early Monday with 65 personnel including eight smokejumpers. Snow and rain fell as officials note smoldering fuels and access challenges from muddy roads while temperatures rise later in the week. The fire is 5 percent contained, burning mainly in sagebrush and lodgepole pine with dead and downed fuels on north-facing slopes. Weather models project warmer, drier conditions by midweek aiding spread potential.
On the MMIP day of awareness Chris Butterfly, father of Jadie Butterfly, appeals for justice after his 19 year old daughter Jadie was shot and killed at her boyfriend's Browning, Montana home. Jadie was a Browning High School graduate studying radiology at the University of Montana and planned a career in health care.
