Line Rodeo Showcases Montana Tech Pre‑Apprentice Students

About 30 pre apprentice line program students from Montana Tech competed in four events at Highlands College in Butte on Friday. The events included speed climb insulator change out arm change out and hurt person rescue. Instructor Brandon Cassidy said the rodeo lets students showcase skills to local utility companies and cooperatives to guide their next steps after graduation.

U S Critical Materials seeks mineral exploration in Sheep Creek area

The Bitterroot National Forest accepted an NOI from U.S. Critical Materials for mineral exploration on registered claims in Sheep Creek south of Darby for the 2024 season. Activities include soil, stream, rock sampling, mapping, adit sampling, and geophysical surveys with no mechanized equipment, targeting May 1 to Oct 26, 2024, in Sheep Creek, Johnson Creek and West Fork drainages.
