IRS misses May withholding deadline amid printing delays
The IRS delayed placing new lower withholding schedules into effect in several mid Atlantic states due to printing delays. Employers in New Jersey Pennsylvania Virginia Delaware and Maryland have not yet received Circular E but should get them by the end of next week. Women enter combat arms in record peace time Army growth
In Fort McClellan Alabama women flood into previously male roles from tank repair to helicopter flying. The Army's combat arms open slowly as 35 000 women now serve about 4 1/2 percent of forces with projections to rise to 52 700 in three years. Brig Gen Baley notes 75 000 women in all services and Maj Gen Holm foresees academies and ships becoming open to women. Secretary Callaway announced July 1 as the date for full enlistment expansion.

Lost hiker found dead in Highlands near Moose Town

Water bill hike eyed to triple for state facilities
