The five major naval powers agreed to refrain from detailed examination of naval problems at the current disarmament conference session. The American delegation did not discuss the matter. They also decided not to appoint a naval sub committee. The question of fleet reductions under the Washington treaty is adjourned with no date set.
R James Speers of Winnipeg will manage a new 25 day Montana racing meet to be run at Marcus Daly Park in Butte this summer. The project, financed by local businessmen, awaits family approval from the late copper magnate’s heirs. Speers has brought success to Winnipeg courses Whittier Park and Polo Park.
More than sixty leaders from religious civic fraternal and labor groups in Butte united at the Chamber of Commerce to back a proposed summer camp for physically under par children. Dr T J B Shanley outlined plans for a four to five week program with 20 to 30 local kids under expert supervision and land donor E J Daily pledged 100 for camp buildings. John Taylor said he would seek an ideal site on Deer Lodge National Forest lands north of Butte.
A series of storms and tornadoes swept eleven states from Missouri to Florida, killing 19 children at Rye Cove school in Virginia and injuring many others. Damaging winds toppled buildings including a jail cell block in Columbus Ohio and a high school in Woodville Virginia.
Baruch calls out profiteers and outlines a broad plan to curb price gouging and unfair trading. He argues government action, public accountability, and business self restraint are essential to restore fair markets.

He argues that curb during peace can lessen profiteers urge to push the nation into war, citing inflation and economic collapse observed after the war.
Washington May 2 With a vote on the disputed export debenture plan expected, the Senate heard that the proposal is defended as the only way to raise farm prices while critics call it a dressed up scheme to satisfy campaign slogans. Support comes from Sen Norbeck Republican South Dakota and Sen Connally Democrat Texas with Sen Wag continuing.

The 1898 Spanish War veterans in Montana welcomed National Commander W L Grayson at Patriotic hall and a reception by Henry Lawton camp. The visit includes a banquet at the Silver Bow club and a stirring program led by M J Mullen and H T Richardson with drum and bugle corps.
Berlin May 3. Communist rioters seized Neukoelln amid deadly clashes with police. Seven killed and over twenty injured as authorities fought to clear barricades. Nightly violence continued with police reinforced by armored cars and hand grenades.
Helena Montana May 2 The two and one half year old son of Mr and Mrs Phil Chevalier Johnnie Chevalier suffered burns when a back draft blew flames over him after starting a fire in the fireplace His mother rushed from another room and removed his burning overalls with a blanket without further injury to the child
A record-breaking entry list of about 500 Butte school boys was announced for the annual track and field meet next Friday and Saturday at Clark Park under the Exchange Boys program. More than 21 public and parochial schools registered at the YMCA for classification in city championship divisions. Each school has a coach from the Exchange club, and events include sprints novelty races longer runs and other popular track numbers.
Three bandits robbed the Fairview State Bank 11 miles north of Sidney Montana, taking 4000 dollars. One man watched from a Montana licensed car while two entered the bank and demanded cash at gunpoint. Bank customers lay on the floor as the thieves emptied the till and then locked the vault with 18 people inside. Sheriffs from four counties pursue the fugitives in a wide search.
Mattoon Illinois May 2 The Siamese twins born last Tuesday to Mr and Mrs Ash Lenz of Ash Grove near here were reported as doing well by attending nurses tonight The twins joined at the pelvis share one body and were believed to be the only survivors of their type at birth
Oakland report says Peter Stratford, a former Hollywood actor and wartime government employee, died of tuberculosis and confessed to being a woman. He had lived with Mrs Stratford for two years at Niles after a hotel stay, and the coroner opened an inquiry upon his death noting the wife left two months earlier.
A bomb exploded in front of a lunch room at Sixth and Wylie avenues injuring a man named John Anderson and damaging about six nearby buildings. Police know of no motive and made no arrests in the Pittsburgh Hill District incident tonight.
Silver Bow county treasurer Paul A. Rooney announced that about $500,000 in real estate taxes remain unpaid for the second half of 1928 and are due this month with delinquency after May 31. April revenues and fund balances are listed, including school and road funds, with a June call possible for registered warrants and a $2,541.33 state auditor check earmarked for the high school fund from oil production license taxes.
