Butte man sentenced for bear spray attack on troopers
Colby Zier, 29, was sentenced to 20 years in Montana State Prison after dousing two Montana troopers with bear spray following a February 14, 2024 chase in Butte. He received 10 years for each assault and 30 years for fentanyl possession with 10 suspended, all concurrent. The judge called the act violent and life threatening.

Venezuelan detained by ICE released from custody
A Venezuelan man detained by ICE after a traffic stop in Whitefish, Montana, was released Wednesday evening with no explanation.
