Ivan Collins, 19, of Eureka Montana, spotted flames in a Portland apartment and crawled inside to pull Cheryl 14 months and Deborah 2 to safety. Firemen later saved Mrs Hancock and her son Teddy 4. The fire started in a storage closet by a water heater and confined to the apartment.

Con P. ONeill aged 72 died after a lingering illness Sunday in a local hospital. A retired Silver Bow County employee and former courthouse worker, he was a past president of Butte Aerie No 1 of the Eagles and active in local Democratic groups. Survived by children, in laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and nieces. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Duggan Merrill Mortuary. He was a native of Ireland and longtime resident of Butte.
Gov. Nelson Rockefeller says a draft for him at the Republican National Convention is extremely unlikely and it would be fantastic if Democrats sought him to oppose Nixon. He avoids pledging support and does not plan a meeting with Nixon during his Chicago visit for a law center convocation.

In Menestre Italy three boys aged 10 12 and 13 were arrested on charges of attempting blackmail to obtain money for ice cream and comic books. They sent a letter to a woman demanding 10 000 lire on her window sill or they would spread unpleasant stories. Police caught them as they tried to collect the money.
