Peiping says it crushed the March revolt in two days, captured 4000 rebels, and now rules Tibet with military force. It claims the 23 year old Dalai Lama was abducted, forced to renounce the 1951 treaty, and now lacks real authority as rebels linger in various regions.
Butte residents prepare for Easter with church services and social events across the Mining City. Crowds are expected at sunrise services as Catholic, Protestant, and other congregations celebrate the Resurrection amid Easter lilies, new gowns, and family gatherings. President Eisenhower plans Easter at Gettysburg, while weather forecasters predict fair skies for the holiday.
With 19 708 voters registered polls will open at noon and close at 8 pm for the annual School District No 1 election.
