Parcel Post Rates Rise On April 1 Nationwide Increase
Postmaster Alfred H. Wilkinson announced parcel post rates will increase on April 1 with a six pound local parcel costing 37 cents, up from 32. The Interstate Commerce Commission approved the 13.1 percent rise, expected to raise about 75.4 million annually and aid the Post Office in saving 100 million. Catalog parcel post could yield 2.4 million if 1962 volumes are matched. The change excludes some parcel post and international shipments. The last hike was February 1, 1960.

MacArthur Develops Complication After Surgery
