Mine-Mill victory in NLRB election at Anaconda and Butte
The International Union of Mine Mill and Smelter Workers won the NLRB election for a bargaining agent at Anaconda Copper Mining Company employees in Butte and Anaconda with 4099 votes to 2185 for United Steelworkers CIO. Of 7951 eligible voters 6350 cast valid ballots with 28 voided. The result will be certified by the NLRB and Mine Mill will be the official bargaining agent for both locations.

Oil Field Rules Data Will Be Studied by Board
HELENA The Montana Oil and Gas Conservation Commission will meet in Helena April 19 to hear field rules for all old or uncontrolled oil fields in Montana. Data will be collected at the hearing on well spacing casing and other field operational problems. Also to be discussed is an emergency order issued Thursday as a result of drilling permits which were issued illegally or not properly authorized by the commission. The inquiry ended with the resignation of Alec Crowell as director and the rehiring of John R. Marchi as counsel. Gov. Aronson said a chairman may take time to name after Kenneth Byerly resigned. Don E. Hageman will direct operations until May. He is a petroleum geologist and long-time commission member.

Robert Carscadden, 50, pleaded guilty in District Court to burglary and waived counsel. Judge T. E. Downey sentenced him to three years in state prison.
