Train wreck near Cuesta kills four in Mexico
A Southern Pacific of Mexico passenger freight train wrecked about 400 miles south of Guaymas near Cuesta Nayarit on Monday. Four people died and 17 were injured as two freight cars and a coach broke away, plunging five miles down a grade before derailing. Rescue equipment was being sent from Emaplme, with Cuesta requesting aid.

Montana farmers expect larger crop plantings in 1947 led by spring wheat and flax. The Bureau of Agricultural Economics says spring wheat acreage could reach 2,512,000 with 1,800,000 acres of winter wheat planted last fall. Flax may total 198,000 acres, two and a half times 1946.

Andrew Jackson Greenough 91 died Wednesday at Fort Harrison veterans hospital Helena after a long Montana career in early Indian war campaigns. He enlisted 1878 and served at Fort McKavett Fort Clark Fort Lewis Fort Shaw Fort Missoula guarding tribes and aiding cattle protection. He lived in Missoula and Butte after 1891 discharge and was post quartermaster sergeant at Missoula. He was born in Clinton Massachusetts and left a son Jackson Greenough of 1900 Texas.

114 Year Old Man Dies in Denver
Mottel Cohen a native of Russia died at Beth Israel home in Denver at age 114. Born in 1832 he and his wife and 12 children migrated from Russia to Argentina about 50 years ago then moved to the United States escaping a grasshopper plague before arriving in Denver in the early 1900s. He remained active until his 100th birthday on June 22, 1932.

Man Dies in Five-Alarm City Church Fire
In Cleveland on Wednesday night a five-alarm fire at the 114 year old Franklin Avenue Methodist church killed one man and injured a firefighter. The blaze began around 6 50 pm from an undetermined cause and surged in high winds. Fire crews evacuated nearby buildings and the YMCA across the street was ordered emptied. Police recovered the unidentified victim at the church rear.
