Corporal Joseph Frankovich 23 of Butte was killed in action on Iwo Jima February 28. The Marine Corps notified his brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Walter McCullough of Boulder. He served two years in the Marine Corps after joining from shipyards in Portland. He held the Purple Heart and died in Pacific fighting. Survived by two brothers George and Nick Frankovich and a sister in law Mrs Nick Frankovich and two sisters Mrs Harold Houts and Rom.
