Bozeman Editor James P. Bole Dies in California

James P. Bole 71 longtime Bozeman Chronicle editor and part owner died in a Los Angeles hospital after a two week treatment for a liver ailment. He lived in California for two and a half years but remained connected to his paper. Born May 7 1868 in Belfast Ireland he was the son of Rev John Bole and Marion S Brown Bole. He leaves two daughters Margaret and Elizabeth both in Los Angeles and employed in local media and labs. Continued on Page 9 Col 1.

State Lands Benefited by Snowstorms

A statewide snowstorm brought 2 to 5 inches of moisture to Montana range and crop lands, with Great Falls reporting 4.1 inches and Helena 2.3 inches. The moisture aids winter wheat areas and helps green grass start on ranges while improving stock water supplies.

Memorial Day plans discussed by 1940 Joint Committee

Butte veterans groups will form plans for Memorial day at a 2 PM meeting on Sunday April 7 at the American Legion hall. The 1940 Joint Memorial day committee includes United Spanish War Veterans American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars Grand Army of the Republic Women's Relief corps L G A R and auxiliary units.

School Parties Nominate Candidates for April 6 Election

Dr. C Renouard and Richard J Stodden were chosen by the People's party as school trustees candidates for the April 6 election in district No 1. Nominees were selected at a Y M C A caucus with a platform and campaign committees named. The Independent party named Thomas S Hosty and Tom C Brown as its candidates.

Officials Chosen for Election of School Trustees

Ninety six judges and clerks were named to run 32 polling places for the April 6 school district election. Two trustees will be elected for three-year terms, with Dr C B Renouard and Arthur Lehwalder as incumbents. The board also accepted a bid from McKee Printing for 350 diplomas at 1.09 each for Butte high graduates. Lehwalder chairs the laws rules and regulations committee.

Dinner Drive Opens For Y M C A Campaign In Butte

About 300 reservations were received for the dinner launching the annual Y M C A membership and contribution drive in Butte. The event, set for next Monday evening, aims to raise 21000 by April 11 with over 400 expected attendees. Dr. H H James leads 21 teams as chief agent, with five civic club presidents acting as general agents or team leaders.

Public Invited to Inspect New Mines Building in Butte

Residents were invited to tour the new Mines building on the Montana School of Mines campus in Butte. The 200000 dollar library and museum opening featured talks, music, and performances by the Mining School orchestra and Glee club. Dedicatory speakers included Dr. Francis A. Thomson, Rev. Emmet J.
