A diesel rotary snow plow works a Union Pacific siding at Big Springs Idaho clearing snow on the Yellowstone Park branch. It moved 56 miles from Ashton to West Yellowstone in under 15 hours actual plowing time. Snow depths reached 4 to 11 feet.
A spring storm spawned destructive tornadoes across Texas with injuries and extensive property loss. Mineola reports 400000 dollars in damage, two injuries, and numerous commercial and residential buildings damaged. Other towns like Swan and Tyler saw additional damage as warnings spread to surrounding states.
Associate Justice Hugh Adair announced Saturday he will seek re election to the Montana Supreme Court in the June primary. He would continue on Position No 1 under the new nomination laws. Adair is a WWI veteran who first joined the court in 1942 and has served as chief justice. He previously was lieutenant governor and a Helena lawyer active in civic groups.
Ten Butte juveniles aged 16 to 20 were taken into custody after being found in Oscar's Buffet, 541 S Main, while police investigated liquor sales to minors. Oscar Nelson, believed to be selling liquor to minors, was questioned and posted a $300 bond after release. Assistants included Maurice Mulcahy, John Sullivan, Fay Bumgarner and Fred Hatch.
In Algiers on a Saturday night thousands demonstrated to show solidarity with Bab-el-Oued residents as clashes with French troops continued. Riots subsided after police held fire, with reports of sporadic gunfire and a grenade near the military housing district causing no injuries.
Butte's elementary schools and Butte High School with the Junior High School received regular accreditation but with a warning from the State Board of Education. Deviation reports cited class sizes over limits. a 14 4 classes or 45 percent of enrollment exceed the 30 pupil standard. The warning ties to the April 7 election levy for the high school and plans for elementary bonds to address overcrowding.
In Palm Springs Kennedy visits former President Eisenhower for about an hour at the Eldorado Country Club. Nixon, reacting to press coverage, calls reporters carpetbaggers while Robert Kennedy attends a crime prevention conference in Los Angeles.
Butte Chamber of Commerce supports the 18 percent mill levy for Butte District No. 1 and votes to again seek the Class AA basketball tournament for Butte. Don Ulrich led a 29 of 32 director meeting at Finlen Hotel. The education committee urged adoption, with letters to members urging levy support. The athletic committee will pursue AA tourney participation in 1963, to be awarded at Montana High School Association in Bozeman. The chamber underwrote the 1963 tourney to 3500 dollars with a 3,000 to 3,500 payout depending on net. New members Broughton McCarthy Paul Keller Hal Pasley Lamar Enderlin attended.

FBI agent W. Wade Bramwell told 100 Montana sheriff posse members that solving crime requires mutual aid among agencies and an informed public. He cited rising national crime totals and warned against a national police force, noting 22 billion in costs.
A headquarters for the city county consolidation plan opens Monday at 41 N Main in the former Green's Cafe. Weekday hours invite residents to sign petitions for a special election and to join volunteers circulating them. The circulating committee includes Rourke MacDonald Dean Doak Paul Armstrong Timothy Sullivan and Don Ulrich.
Ruth M. Stroud, 63, of Leadore, was listed in critical condition at St. Ann Hospital after a head-on collision about 8 p.m. Saturday three-quarters of a mile east of Anaconda. Kenneth C Plumb, 31, and James H McFarland, 15, were also injured. Plumb drove the wrong way after apparently becoming confused.
A Pacific railway train struck a bus at a grade crossing on the highway between Guadalajara and Tepic, killing 13 passengers and injuring 10 others Saturday. Authorities investigate the crash and identify victims and possible causes.
Peter Newmeyer, 30, brother of actress Julie Newmar, died after falling to the bottom of a 2500-foot cliff during a mountain skiing accident near San Bernardino California.
Mostly cloudy with occasional snow showers through Monday. East of Divide expect 20 to 35 mph winds near east slopes, highs 40 to 55, lows 20 to 35 Sunday night. West of Divide sees 35 to 45 mph temperatures with mountain valleys around 15 higher.
