Business Trends Survey Set For Sunday In Butte

Nearly 200 Butte residents will canvas their areas Sunday in the Butte Citizens Project business trends survey. Labor election ordered at Anaconda Reduction Works

The National Labor Relations Board orders a representation election for Anaconda Reduction Works laborers. Four unions compete or vote no union. Mine-Mill currently bargains for smelter workers. In Riverton Wyoming the District 50 United Mine Workers appears to have won a run off election to represent Lucky Mecranium Co employees in labor talks defeating the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union 62 to 56. If no protests arise the NLRB agent Robert E. Lee will certify the UMW as agents of the workers.

Air Force ends search for Flying Tiger airliner

The Air Force halted its eight day search for the Flying Tiger airliner that disappeared over the Pacific with 107 people aboard. All aboard are officially presumed dead. among them 93 jungle trained U.S. soldiers en route to South Vietnam to bolster the fight against Communist infiltration.

Havre 19 year old Caron B Shirley died at 8 58 AM after a car crash 12 miles southwest of Big Sandy on U S Highway 87. Companion Connie Robinson 19 of Havre was hospitalized in fair condition.

Beer Retailers Get Reprieve in Cash Beer Ruling

Montana Liquor Control Board found nine southwestern county beer retailers technically violated the cash beer law but will take no action. The three month probe led to corrections by wholesalers and retailers and requires a seven day cash purchase basis for license renewals starting July 1. Temporary suspensions had already been issued for seven wholesalers in the Butte Anaconda area.
