Prague reports that over 4,000,000 Czech workers contributed gratis labor Sunday on national stories mines and building projects as part of government victory shifts. Earnings would fund an international children's relief fund and Greek guerrilla causes, with no stated share for each beneficiary.
The Montana Supreme Court modified a prior ruling in favor of R. M. Donathan against Dr. J. McConnell. It requires Donathan to accept $4,000 damages instead of the earlier $19,500, while retaining a rehearing option. The decision comes after Monday proceedings in Helena.
Senator Murray D Montana and Senator Mantsen Washington will join Senator McGrath in a national party chair trip next month. They plan stops at Bible Springs on April 3 and Missoula on April 4. McGrath is expected to file for re election while in Montana.
Funeral services were conducted here Wednesday for Louis Penwell a former United States Internal Revenue collector from Montana who died Saturday in Tempe Arizona. He served as a state representative and had announced retirement last June amid ill health.
LEWISTOWN March 22 11 The Milwaukee railroad cuts service between Harlowton and Great Falls by 25 to 57 percent per government order. Montana Chamber of Commerce charged Monday. The carrier reduced passenger mail and express routes to three times a week. Milwaukee’s H. Buford said trains on Chicago Omaha and Chicago Sioux City runs face three weekly schedules during the coal crisis and will resume daily service once the crisis ends.
The U.S. appeals court unanimously upheld the conviction of Kennel Romney former House sergeant at arms for bank fraud. Romney was convicted last May in first court and sentenced to one to three years in jail. He faced a $143 803 shortage in House funds and remains free on a $5 000 bond. Justice Wilbur K Miller delivered the decision with Chief Justice Lawrence Groner and Justice F L Hatyelt concurring.

Payrolls for January totaled 678,563.75 for teachers with various dues and subsidies. numerous named individuals were listed as election judges.
The regular meeting of the Business and Professional Women's club in Butte featured the color film Copper. Vocalist William Maloney sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Littlejohn. Mrs. Dessie Grefig was voted in as a new member. Kathryn Mankervis, club president, received a crystal wedding gift.

District Court in Deer Lodge on March 22 heard the guardian ship of Minnle gedleman with John Eddleman appointed guardian and bonded at 2900 dollars. The annual accounting for Walter Williams guardianship was approved. Letters of administration for Stephen Babbit were issued to K W MacPherson with a 500 bond. A case EM Gurkis vs Norman T briefly overruled. Norman Terlly given 20 days to respond. Norman F E Dykes, charged with escape from the Montana State Penitentiary, pleaded guilty. Judge Taylor set March 28 for sentence.
Miss Josephine Middleton has been named queen of the junior prom to be held at Rowell county high school on April 24. She is 16, daughter of Mrs. Dole Middleton. Senior and junior nominees and committees were announced, with plans for the event underway as community leaders prepare decorations and the dance.
Entertains Players in Deer Lodge on March 22 as Powell County High School holds first workouts for the A and B basketball squads. Deer Lodge council of OW will meet Wednesday at 2 PM at the Presbyterian guild hall with Kings Driyher society serving luncheon desserts. Mr and Mrs Ad Beeler and family visited relatives here over the weekend while Helena traders were in town. Coach Charles Burgess led the first workouts for Powell County High School Monday evening.
Homer Senta of San Diego, brother of G A Schultz, Butte barber, was killed in an auto mobile collision in San Diego Monday afternoon. Schultz’s brother was seriously injured. though not a native he visited Butte often and had many acquaintances there. He left by plane for San Diego Monday night.
William Daley named commander of the Butte VFW post at a Sunday election. Bernard Sullivan retires as presiding commander. Other officers elected include Marshall Stichards senior vice commander Lt Billy Tucker junior vice commander John Vigeant chaplain dot furk quartMaster James McDermott surgeon William Carne post adjutant Frederick Dunstan elected to trustees William Wilson Russell Penhale on board. Joint installation with the women's auxiliary planned for a later date.
A stolen 1937 Chevrolet found after four years, traced to original owner Roy Hoops now living in Kirkland Washington. Local and state officers arranged return, noting the car had changed hands at least three times through title transfers.
New York security report details a daytime break in by two gunmen at a Park Avenue house. They seized jewels valued over 20 thousand dollars from Ruth Sasaki, widow of a Japanese Buddhist priest, after forcing her at gunpoint through a doorbell encounter and barricading her in a closet before fleeing.
