German Prelate Is Summoned
Cardinal Von Galen of Muenster Germany died this afternoon per British radio. Clemens August Count Von Galen born 1878 was archbishop and recently elevated to cardinal. He was arrested by Nazis in 1943 after condemning Gestapo actions and later found by Allied troops in a hospital near Muenster. He was ordained in 1904 and served in Berlin and Muenster before becoming bishop in 1933.
