Montana farmers gain state livestock indemnity fund

Pearl Harbor survivor Dowd dies at 99 in Montana
Charles A. Dowd, Montana’s last Pearl Harbor survivor, died in his sleep March 17 at 99. Anaconda resident living at Southwest Montana Veterans Home in Butte, he was born December 23, 1923 in Rochester, New York. Dowd enlisted in 1941, served as a radioman at Pearl Harbor, and fired on Japanese forces during the December 7 attack, alongside Sam Jensen.
